Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie Nominated for Bailey Women Prize for Fiction…

World-famous Nigerian author, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie has been nominated for the Bailey’s Women’s Prize for Fiction alongside 19 other women.

The award is for women published in English and is now being sponsored by liquor company, Baileys.

Chimamanda has previously won the award with ‘Half of A Yellow Sun’ when it was known as Orange Prize for fiction, and as the ‘chi’ of literrati will have it, she’ve thrown out another best seller to get her nominated for this year, making her the only African on the list of nominees.

The winner will go home with an award of 30,000 pounds or $ 50,000.

Also nominated for this award are; Donna Tartt with ‘The Goldfinch’, Margaret Atwood of ‘MaddAddam’ and Eleanor Catton of ‘The Luminaries’ are some of the other nominees

Six finalists will be announced on April 7th and winner will be revealed on June 4th, and I’m sure our young Achebe will not let us down.

In case you’re wondering, her nomination is for her latest book, Americanah. So if you haven’t read it, go grab a copy NOW!!!
